Israel kills over 150 Palestinians since ceasefire, including 40 in past two weeks: Gaza Media OfficeMore than 150 Palestinians have been killed by Israel since the ceasefire agreement took effect on January 19, 2025, including 40 in the past two weeks, the Gaza Media Office announced. "We have observed the occupation deliberately escalating its field crimes against civilians in recent weeks, targeting individuals collecting firewood or inspecting their homes, resulting in their deaths by Israeli army fire,” the office said in a statement. The remarks came after an Israeli airstrike on Beit Lahia in northern Gaza, which killed nine Palestinians, including journalists and humanitarian aid workers. Condemning the attack as a “heinous massacre”, the Gaza Media Office accused Israel of escalating its aggression amid reports of increased military directives from Israeli leadership.

White House withdraws nomination for US hostage envoyThe Trump administration has withdrawn the nomination of Adam Boehler to serve as special presidential envoy for hostage affairs, the White House said. Boehler, who has been working to secure the release of hostages held by Hamas in Gaza, will continue hostage-related work as a so-called "special government employee," a position that would not need Senate confirmation. A White House official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Boehler withdrew his nomination to avoid divesting from his investment company. The move was unrelated to the controversy sparked by his discussions with the Palestinian group Hamas. Boehler recently held direct meetings with Hamas on the release of hostages in Gaza. The talks angered some Senate Republicans and some Israeli leaders.

Rafah municipality forced to halt fuel supply to water wells amid Israeli blockadeThe municipality of Rafah, in southern Gaza, announced that it has been forced to stop supplying fuel to private and agricultural water wells due to a severe fuel crisis. The crisis has persisted for two weeks as a result of Israel’s closure of border crossings, preventing the entry of humanitarian aid, relief supplies, and goods. Ahmed Al-Sufi, the mayor of Rafah, said in a press release that the municipality had been providing fuel to operate 80 private and agricultural water wells in addition to the main wells. “This was essential to ensuring water access for neighborhoods where Palestinians have returned, given the deteriorating humanitarian conditions," he explained. However, with fuel supplies running out, the municipality has been compelled to scale back services and suspend critical operations, threatening the lives of thousands and exacerbating the health and environmental crisis.

Palestinian scholars condemn escalating Israeli violations at Al-Aqsa MosqueThe Palestinian Scholars Association condemned the escalating Israeli violations against Palestinian worshipers at Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem during the holy month of Ramadan. In a statement, the association said: "We are following with great anger and sorrow the escalating oppressive measures taken by the Israeli occupation against” the Al-Aqsa Mosque. “The pace of systematic provocations and targeting by settlers against Al-Aqsa Mosque, its worshipers, and those observing prayer has been increasing on a daily and noticeable basis,” it added. The association explained that Israel is preventing worshipers from "praying inside Al-Aqsa Mosque during Ramadan while opening the mosque to settlers to perform their Talmudic rituals in its courtyards."

Israeli strike kills one in south Lebanon: ministryAn Israeli strike targeting a vehicle killed one person in south Lebanon, the Lebanese health ministry said, according to state media. "A strike by the Israeli enemy on a car in the town of Burj al-Muluk (near the Israeli border) led to the death of one citizen," the ministry's emergency unit was quoted as saying by state news agency NNA. The Israeli military later said it "struck a Hezbollah" member who took part in "terrorist activity" in the area of Kfarkela in southern Lebanon. A November 27 truce largely halted more than a year of hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel, including two months of full-blown war in which Israel sent in ground troops. Israel has continued to carry out periodic strikes on Lebanese territory since the agreement took effect.

Hamas says 'ball is in Israel's court' after hostage offerHamas said that "the ball is in Israel's court" after offering to release an Israeli-US hostage and return the bodies of four others as part of Gaza truce talks. Following the offer on Friday, Israel said the Palestinian fighters had "not budged a millimetre" after a proposal from US President Donald Trump's Middle East envoy. The first phase of the truce, which began in January, ended on March 1 without agreement on next steps. A Hamas official said negotiations began in Doha on Tuesday. "The ball is in Israel's court," a Hamas spokesman said. "We want to solidify the ceasefire agreement and force (Israel) to implement its terms," Abdul Latif al-Qanou said, accusing Israel of "delaying" its enforcement.
