UN chief rejects Israeli plan to control Gaza aid

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has rejected a new Israeli proposal to control aid deliveries in Gaza, saying it risks "further controlling and callously limiting aid down to the last calorie and grain of flour."

"Let me be clear: We will not participate in any arrangement that does not fully respect the humanitarian principles: humanity, impartiality, independence and neutrality," Guterres told reporters.

Thousands of Egyptians rally near Gaza border to support Palestinians, reject displacement

Thousands of Egyptians gathered along the road leading to the northeastern city of Arish near Gaza in a show of support for Palestinians and rejection of their forced displacement.

The mass protest coincided with a visit by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el Sisi and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron to Arish, the capital of North Sinai province.

Israeli, Palestinian students protest at Hebrew University to demand end to Gaza war

Scores of Israeli and Palestinian students demonstrated at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem against Israel’s brutal war on Gaza.

According to an Anadolu Agency reporter, protesters wore black T-shirts and raised banners denouncing the Israeli onslaught and calling for its end.

“Stop genocide” and “Stop bombing journalists,” read banners waved by protesters.

Israeli envoy ejected from African Union meeting on Rwandan genocide

Israel's ambassador to Ethiopia was ejected from a conference at African Union (AU) headquarters in Addis Ababa commemorating the 31st anniversary of Rwanda's genocide against the Tutsi, two diplomats told AFP.

It was not immediately clear why Ambassador Avraham Neguise was asked to leave the event on Monday, held to mark the International Day of Reflection on the Genocide in Rwanda, which left at least 800,000 people dead in 1994.

It was unclear whether the move was a protest by AU member states against Israel’s war in Gaza.

23 Palestinians hurt as Israeli forces raid Al-Quds University

At least 23 Palestinians were injured when Israeli army forces raided Al-Quds University in occupied East Jerusalem, medics said.

Witnesses said Israeli forces stormed the university in the town of Abu Dis and fired tear gas canisters toward students on campus.

The British prime minister said that the resumption of Israeli attacks in Gaza is “wrong,” and called Israel’s occupation of Palestinian land “unlawful.”

Elderly Palestinian dies after Israeli assault during West Bank home demolition

An elderly Palestinian man died after Israeli soldiers assaulted him in the occupied West Bank, local media said.

Israeli army forces beat Palestinian residents with batons and rifle butts during the demolition of a house in Wadi Fukin, a town west of Bethlehem city, the official news agency Wafa reported.

Six people were injured in the attack, including Ghazi Badr Manasra, 70, who suffered a heart attack amid the violence and was later pronounced dead.

Israel orders closure of UNRWA-run school in occupied East Jerusalem

Israel decided to shut down a school run by the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) in occupied East Jerusalem, Palestinian authorities said.

In a statement, the Jerusalem Governorate said Israeli forces raided the UNRWA girls’ school in the Shu’fat refugee camp in East Jerusalem and handed a military order requiring the closure of the school as of May 8.

Microsoft under scrutiny for support for Israeli army

Microsoft is under scrutiny due to its alleged support of the Israeli military via its cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) services since the war on Gaza started.

Senior Microsoft employees protested the company’s services to Israel at its 50th anniversary party, including AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman, which brought back to the table the company’s involvement with Israel.

The Guardian newspaper reported in January that Microsoft provided more IT and storage services to the Israeli military after the October 7 attacks and signed multi-million dollar deals to provide thousands of hours of technical support.
