423,000 displaced Palestinians in Gaza have no safe place to go: UN

The UN has reported that over 423,000 displaced Palestinians in Gaza have no safe place to go, amid intensified Israeli attacks on buildings sheltering the displaced.

The UN warned that humanitarian efforts in Gaza are severely constrained as Israeli military operations intensify, with over 423,000 Palestinians displaced yet again, "with no safe place to go".

"The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs warned that humanitarian operations continue to be stifled by severe movement restrictions inside Gaza, as well as (Israeli) military activity and attacks that jeopardise the safety of aid workers and their premises," said UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric at a news conference.

Hundreds of illegal Israeli settlers storm Al-Aqsa Mosque

Hundreds of illegal Israeli settlers forced their way into the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex in occupied East Jerusalem under the pretext of marking 77 years since the establishment of Israel.

A Palestinian official with the Islamic Endowments Department in Jerusalem said nearly 350 illegal Israeli settlers entered the flashpoint site under Israeli police protection since the morning, performing provocative Talmudic rituals on the mosque's eastern side.

Witnesses said the settlers entered through the Al-Mugharbah Gate area, west of the holy mosque, and that more are expected to storm in the afternoon.

Israel's war on Gaza is a 'crime of crimes': Qatar

Israel continued its "genocide of war" in Gaza that constitutes the "crime of crimes" despite the 2024 advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) declaring Israel's occupation of Palestinian territory "unlawful", Qatar told the ICJ.

"The court’s advisory opinion of 19 July 2024 confirmed that Israel’s presence in the occupied Palestinian territory is unlawful and must be brought to an end as rapidly as possible," said Mutlaq Al-Qahtani, representing Qatar.

"Unfortunately, Israel did not end its occupation. It has continued its genocide of war against the Palestinian people, especially in Gaza."

UK tells ICJ Israel must lift aid restrictions

The United Kingdom has told the International Court of Justice (ICJ) that Israel must lift its restrictions on humanitarian assistance to Gaza, ensure civilian protection, and fully comply with international humanitarian law.

"It is unacceptable that Israel has blocked humanitarian support from entering Gaza for nearly two months, meaning that Palestinian civilians, including one million children, are facing starvation, disease, and death," said UK representative Sally Langrish, recalling the UK Foreign Office Minister David Lammy's recent statement to the UN Security Council in which he urged a return to the ceasefire "to end the relentless death and destruction that Palestinians face daily."

Palestinian children reach UK for treatment

The British government has said that "a small number of children" from Gaza entered the UK for the first time to receive urgent medical care.

The Foreign Office said the sick and wounded were allowed to temporarily leave Gaza for treatment.

"The healthcare system in Gaza is near collapse. Aid supplies must be allowed in, medical workers protected," it wrote on X.

Quoting the Foreign Office post, Hamish Falconer, minister for the Middle East, said he was delighted to support an initiative by Project Pure Hope "to bring a small number of children from Gaza to the UK for privately funded medical care."

Poland tells ICJ Israel must lift blockade on life-saving aid

Poland has told the International Court of Justice (ICJ) that Israel is legally obligated to lift any blockade preventing the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, calling it "unacceptable" that people are dying while food, medicine, and vital medical supplies are held at the border.

"It is unimaginable that these basic rules are still violated," said Patrycja Grzebyk, representing Poland.

"The situation where people die because, at the border, food is rotting, medicine is expiring, and vital medical equipment has stopped cannot be accepted and cannot be understood."

Hamas slams Switzerland's decision to ban group as 'reprehensible bias' toward Israel

Hamas has slammed a decision by the Swiss government to ban the group as a "reprehensible bias" toward Israel.

The Palestinian resistance group said it "deeply regrets that the decision to ban the movement (Hamas) has come from a country (Switzerland) historically known for its neutral positions and defence of international humanitarian law."

It described the decision as "a reprehensible bias against our Palestinian people, their just cause and legitimate resistance to the occupation amid the ongoing genocide waged by the Zionist occupation in Gaza."

The group urged the Swiss government "to backtrack on this unfair and unjustified decision, side with justice and endorse our Palestinian people’s just struggle to end the occupation."

The Executive Director of the World Health Organization has said that the "minds and bodies" of children in Gaza were being "broken", following two months of aid blockade and renewed strikes.

"We are breaking the bodies and minds of the children of Gaza. We are starving the children of Gaza. We are complicit."

Deputy Director General Dr Michael Ryan told reporters at the WHO's headquarters in Geneva on Thursday, urging the international community to act. "As a physician, I am angry. It is an abomination," he said.

Hundreds rally in central Stockholm against Israel's ongoing genocide in Gaza

Hundreds marched through central Stockholm to protest Israel's ongoing attacks on Gaza as part of larger International Workers' Day demonstrations featuring strong messages of solidarity with the Palestinian people.

The protest, held in the Odenplan district, saw activists, citizens, and artists call for urgent humanitarian access to Gaza and accountability for what participants described as acts of genocide carried out by Israel.

The march proceeded peacefully toward Segel Torg Square under close police supervision.
