Mexico told the International Court of Justice (ICJ) that the dehumanisation of Gaza’s population "should not be normalised."
"This is a pivotal moment, not only for the protection of the United Nations and international law but also for the preservation of our shared humanity," said Pablo Arrocha Olabuenaga, Mexico's representative at The Hague.
“The world should not and cannot normalise the dehumanisation of an entire people,” he added.
Mexico urged the court to confirm that all UN members, including Israel, must facilitate humanitarian aid and protect civilians in occupied territories.
The representative argued that the Israel-caused humanitarian crisis in Gaza is a "deliberate choice," and stressed the need for Tel Aviv to comply with international humanitarian law.
