Positive' announcement on Gaza truce within 24 hours: Trump

US President Donald Trump said that there will likely be an announcement concerning the situation in besieged Gaza within the next 24 hours.

"We're going to see what's happening. A lot of talk going on about Gaza right now. You know that, right? So you'll be knowing probably in the next 24 hours," Trump said, one day after teasing a "very big announcement."

Trump declined to specify what the announcement would concern when asked, but said it would be "as big as it gets." He maintained, however, that it would be "very positive," and could happen as soon as Thursday, the same time frame as the Gaza announcement he previewed.

World Central Kitchen halts work in Gaza as supplies run out

The US-based World Central Kitchen charity has halted work in Gaza, saying it had run out of supplies and been prevented by Israel from bringing in aid.

"After serving more than 130 million total meals and 26 million loaves of bread over the past 18 months, World Central Kitchen no longer has the supplies to cook meals or bake bread in Gaza," it said in a post on X.

US ‘can’t stand’ for Israel's 'ethnic cleansing' in Gaza: senator

US Senator Chris Van Hollen slammed Israeli Premier Benjamin Netanyahu's government blockade of aid to Gaza, saying the US should not be "complicit" in it.

"It's now been well over 60 days since the Netanyahu government imposed a total blockade of humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza, not allowing any food or any other humanitarian assistance to reach the over 2 million civilians there," Van Hollen said in a video on X.

He said withholding food and humanitarian assistance "as a weapon of war is flat out illegal" under international law.

Van Hollen said Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir recently visited Washington DC and urged the implementation of President Donald Trump's plan to "essentially force" 2 million Palestinian civilians to leave Gaza.

"That is simply ethnic cleansing by another name," he said, adding: "We can’t stand for it. America should not be complicit in any of this, and the world should not be complicit in any of this. All of us have a duty as human beings to speak out as to what's happening.”

US envoy to present Gaza aid plan to UNSC members: report

US President Donald Trump's Special Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff will brief the UN Security Council about Washington's policy on Palestine’s Gaza and key regional issues, Axios reported, citing three sources familiar with the matter.

Witkoff is expected to focus on a new aid plan for Gaza proposed by the US and Israel, said the report.

Earlier reports stated that Israel's Security Cabinet recently approved an aid delivery plan for Palestinians in the enclave via private US security contractors based on handing over aid boxes to individuals.

The UN and all aid groups working in Gaza, however, have rejected the plan, arguing it violates international humanitarian principles.

Israel vows to maintain military presence in Gaza

Israel vowed to maintain its military presence in all occupied areas of Gaza, dismissing global demands to halt its genocide against Palestinians, Channel 12 reported.

Defence Minister Israel Katz, speaking to soldiers of the 162nd Division, outlined plans to keep forces in any seized Gaza territory to “prevent terrorism, cleanse the sector and thwart threats.”

PM Benjamin Netanyahu decided Friday to intensify the offensive, including mobilising thousands of reserve soldiers.

Katz revealed plans to forcibly displace Palestinians in Gaza to southern areas, claiming a distinction between civilians and Hamas members, though offering no clear mechanism for the separation, according to Channel 12.

He promised robust protection for Israeli forces countering unspecified threats.

Israel kills another Palestinian journalist, death toll rises to 214

Another Palestinian journalist has been killed in an Israeli strike in Gaza, taking the death toll since October 2023 to 214, local authorities said.

Yahya Sobeih, a journalist with a local news agency, was among 22 Palestinians killed in an Israeli strike on a crowded market in Gaza City, a medical source said. His death came hours after the reporter welcomed his newborn baby.

“You brightened our world, our little princess. Thanks to God who blessed us with the birth of our precious daughter,” Sobeih shared on his Instagram, with a photo showing the baby in his arms.

Greece, Egypt agree to boost ties, back Gaza reconstruction plan

Greece and Egypt signed a "strategic partnership" deal as they seek to step up political coordination amid the ongoing war in Gaza.

"Our bilateral cooperation is based on political, economic, and cultural ties, which are deeply rooted in history and defined by our strong commitment to the values of peace and the full respect of international law," Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said in a joint statement.

"The first priority is for hostilities to stop and restore the flow of humanitarian aid to civilians," Mitsotakis said, adding that Greece supported an Arab-backed plan for the reconstruction of Gaza once a ceasefire was achieved

Pro-Palestinian protests to be allowed at 2026 World Cup in US

Pro-Palestinian protests would be permitted at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, US President Donald Trump announced.

"People are allowed to protest. You have to do it in a reasonable manner, not necessarily friendly, but reasonable," Trump said when asked if people who have participated in pro-Palestinian protests should be concerned about attending the World Cup in the country during his first 2026 World Cup task force meeting, which included several Cabinet members and FIFA president Gianni Infantino.

Gaza declared ‘famine-stricken area’ as Israel blocks entry of food, aid

Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa declared Gaza a “famine-stricken zone”, as Israel continued to block the entry of food and aid into the blockaded enclave.

"We demand all UN member states take urgent action according to their obligations under international humanitarian law, and recognise this disaster and famine," he said.

The Palestinian premier called on the international community to "implement UN resolutions that prohibit using starvation as a weapon of war."

Mustafa also appealed to the entire UN system to "immediately activate its mechanisms and treat Gaza as a famine zone."

UN experts demand action to avert 'annihilation' of Palestinians in Gaza

UN experts said that countries were at a moral crossroads over the conflict in Gaza, facing the choice between acting to halt the violence and witnessing "the annihilation of the Palestinian population" in the territory.

"The decision is stark: remain passive and witness the slaughter of innocents or take part in crafting a just resolution," more than 20 independent United Nations experts said in a statement, urging the world to avert the "moral abyss we are descending into".
