EU to review ties with Israel over Gaza: Kallas

The European Union agreed to review its cooperation deal with Israel over alleged human rights abuses in Gaza, the bloc's top diplomat Kaja Kallas said.

Kallas said Brussels was acting after "a strong majority" of its 27 member states backed the move, in a meeting of EU foreign ministers, in a bid to pressure Israel.

"What it tells is that the countries see that the situation in Gaza is untenable, and what we want is to really help the people, and what we want is to unblock the humanitarian aid so that it will reach the people," Kallas told journalists.

Spain urges EU sanctions on Israel over 'man-made famine' in Gaza

Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares called on the EU to take concrete action against Israel over the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, describing the situation as "unsustainable, unbearable," and "inhuman."

Speaking to reporters ahead of a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels, Albares said the bloc must use "all instruments at its disposal" to exert maximum diplomatic pressure on Israel, Spanish daily El Pais newspaper reported.

Spain open to discuss Israel’s participation in sports competitions

The Spanish education minister and government spokeswoman expressed her country’s “openness” to discussing Israel’s participation in sports competition.

“Of course, Spain, along with the rest of the partners and EU countries, will also be willing to participate in this debate under the same premise that these double standards do not exist,” Pilar Alegria told the Council of Ministers, citing Russia’s exclusion from competitions, in a statement.

UK summons Israeli ambassador over war on Gaza

Foreign Secretary David Lammy also announced that the UK has summoned the Israeli Ambassador Tzipi Hotovely over Israel's expansion of its military offensive in the occupied Palestinian territory.

Sweden seeks EU sanctions targeting 'individual Israeli ministers'

Sweden's top diplomat said that the country would work within the EU to push for sanctions against certain Israeli ministers over Israel's treatment of civilian Palestinians in Gaza.

"Since we do not see a clear improvement for the civilians in Gaza, we need to raise the tone further," Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard said in a statement to AFP.

"We will therefore now also push for EU sanctions against individual Israeli ministers," she added.

US asking countries for 'voluntary' Palestinian relocation: Rubio

The United States has reached out to countries about accepting "voluntary" relocations of Palestinians fleeing Israel's offensive in Gaza, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said.

Responding to a question in testimony to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Rubio said: "There's no deportation."

"What we have talked to some nations about is, if someone voluntarily and willingly says, I want to go somewhere else for some period of time because I'm sick, because my children need to go to school, or what have you, are there countries in the region willing to accept them for some period of time?" Rubio said.

'Stop the genocide' — Rubio faces protests over US role in Israel's carnage in Gaza

Cambridge college cuts ties with arms industry amid pressure from pro-Palestine students in UK

King's College in Cambridge has become the first Oxbridge institution in the UK to commit to completely divesting millions of pounds from the arms industry and companies involved in Palestine's illegal occupation by the end of the calendar year, the Palestinian Solidarity Campaign (PSC) said.

The PSC said the college's decision to divest millions from the arms industry, as well as companies, came following ongoing pressure from students in solidarity with Palestine.

Japan, Bulgaria reiterate support for Gaza ceasefire

Japan and Bulgaria reiterated their support for the implementation of a ceasefire agreement in Gaza amid Israel’s onslaught on the Palestinian territory, according to a joint statement Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba hosted Bulgarian President Rumen Radev in Tokyo, where they exchanged views on global issues.

The statement said the two sides enhanced the bilateral relationship, expressed support for Ukraine in its war with Russia and condemned North Korea’s nuclear development.

UK halts trade talks with Israel over Gaza, sanctions illegal settlers

The UK issued its strongest condemnation yet of Israeli attacks on Gaza and the occupied West Bank, calling the humanitarian crisis in Gaza “abominable” and announcing a formal pause to free trade talks with Israel.

Speaking in the House of Commons, Foreign Secretary David Lammy described Israel’s ongoing military campaign as “dangerous, repellent, and monstrous.”

He warned that Israel’s stated policy of allowing only “just enough to prevent hunger” into Gaza amounted to a deliberate starvation strategy.

“Prime Minister Netanyahu says that they’re going to take control of the strip, letting only minimal amounts of food reach Gazans. Madam deputy speaker, I quote Mr. Netanyahu. He says ‘just enough to prevent hunger’,” Lammy told MPs.

“It’s morally unjustifiable. It’s disproportionate, it’s utterly, utterly counterproductive.”
