Heavy storm hits Egypt’s coastal city of Alexandria

An unseasonal rainstorm struck the Egyptian city of Alexandria on May 31, flooding roads and damaging seafront businesses. No casualties were reported, according to the country’s health ministry.

Alexandria is highly vulnerable to climate impacts, suffering from coastal erosion, rising sea levels and flooding from annual storms.
