Truce talks continueThe Palestinian resistance group Hamas said Monday that talks held with mediators and a US envoy in Qatar discussed ending the Israeli war on Gaza, troop withdrawal, and reconstruction of the enclave. "We dealt flexibly with the efforts of the mediators and (US President Donald) Trump's envoy and we are awaiting the results of the upcoming negotiations and the occupation's obligation to adhere (to the Gaza ceasefire deal) and move to its second phase,” Hamas spokesman Abdul Latif al Qanou said in a statement. "The negotiations that took place with the Egyptian and Qatari mediators and Trump's envoy focused on ending the war, withdrawal and reconstruction," he added.

Trump’s hostage envoy defends talks with HamasUS President Donald Trump’s hostage envoy Adam Boehler defended his direct negotiations with officials of the Palestinian resistance group Hamas, emphasising that the Trump administration is acting in America’s interests, not as an extension of Israeli policy. "We’re the United States. We’re not an agent of Israel," Boehler told Israel’s Channel 12 on Sunday, responding to criticism from Israeli officials, who were reportedly caught off guard by the discussions. Boehler’s talks, conducted alongside separate mediation efforts by Qatar and Egypt, primarily focused on securing the release of American hostages held in Gaza. He expressed optimism about a potential breakthrough, saying: "You’ve got a real chance for some movement and seeing hostages home in the next few weeks."

Hamas accuses Netanyahu of undermining Gaza ceasefire dealThe Palestinian resistance group Hamas accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of obstructing the Gaza ceasefire agreement by attempting to introduce a roadmap that serves his political interests over the lives of Israeli hostages. Netanyahu is "trying to derail the deal, imposing new conditions to benefit himself while disregarding the demands of captives' families", said Izat al-Rishq, a member of Hamas's political bureau, in a statement. He added that the only path forward is adhering to the agreement's terms and beginning negotiations for the second phase, warning that any delay is a "waste of time and a manipulation of the captives' fate".

US authorities arrest Palestinian protest leader in raid on student housingAgents of the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) arrested Mahmoud Khalil, a recent graduate of Columbia University who helped lead a pro-Palestinian encampment last April, at his university-owned residence in New York on Saturday night, according to his lawyer. "Last night, ICE (US Immigration and Customs Enforcement) agents wrongfully arrested Mahmoud Khalil, claiming his student visa was revoked — even though Mahmoud is a legal permanent resident (green card) and not in the US on a student visa," attorney Amy Greer said in a statement. She said they do not know his precise whereabouts and filed a habeas corpus petition challenging the validity of his arrest and detention.

Israel halts Gaza electricity supply ahead of new truce talksIsrael ordered an immediate halt to Gaza's electricity supply in an effort to pressure Hamas, even as it prepared for fresh talks on the future of its truce with the Palestinian movement. Israel's decision comes a week after it blocked all aid supplies to the war-battered territory, a move reminiscent of the initial days of the war when Israel announced a "siege" on Gaza. Hamas described the electricity cut as "blackmail", a term it had also used after Israel blocked the aid.
