Germany urges Israel to allow more humanitarian aid into Gaza

Germany once again called on Israel to allow more humanitarian aid into Gaza amid a sharp rise in civilian casualties.

"With the renewed escalation in the Gaza Strip, we are faced with a situation that we view with great concern, and the number of civilian casualties is simply too high. This simply cannot be allowed to continue," deputy government spokeswoman Christiane Hoff mann told journalists in Berlin.

"More humanitarian aid must be delivered to Gaza, and the ceasefire must be restored," she added.

Israel proposes 40-50 day truce-captives deal in Gaza

Israel has proposed a truce extension in Gaza, seeking the return of about half of the remaining hostages in exchange, according to Israeli officials.

The truce could last 40-50 days.

Israeli proposal comes after Tel Aviv broke the ceasefire and unleashed a blanket bombardment on the Palestinian enclave as its troops are prepping for "intense operations" in southern Gaza.

EU calls for return to ceasefire between Israel and Hamas

The EU wants a resumption of negotiations between Israel and Hamas as it is the only way forward, a EU spokesperson has said.

"A return to the ceasefire is essential, leading to the release of all hostages and a permanent end to hostilities," the spokesperson said.

"Humanitarian aid access and distribution, as well as the supply of electricity to Gaza, must be resumed immediately," they said, adding that "Palestinians and Israelis have suffered immensely in the last year and a half. It is time to break the cycle of violence".

Gaza’s healthcare system is “totally crippled,” with bombings by Tel Aviv worsening the already dire situation, Palestinian doctor Ibrahim Elakkad said.

Speaking to Anadolu from Karachi, where his wife recently underwent eye surgery, Elakkad, formerly head of ENT at Nasser Medical Complex, said both public and private healthcare in Gaza are almost non-existent.

Red Cross recovers bodies of 8 medics killed in Gaza by Israel

The bodies of eight Palestine Red Crescent (PRCS) medics who came under Israeli fire in Gaza just over a week ago have been recovered, though a ninth worker is still unaccounted for, the Red Cross said.

In a statement, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said it was "appalled" at the deaths.

"Their bodies were identified today and have been recovered for dignified burial. These staff and volunteers were risking their own lives to provide support to others," the ICRC said.

According to Palestinian news agency Wafa, troops stormed homes and vandalised Palestinian belongings in Nablus.

Israeli troops also conducted field interrogations in Asira al-Shamaliya town, near Nablus and raided Tammun town south of Tubas, deploying forces across several neighbourhoods.
