A Palestinian teenager with US citizenship was killed after being shot by an Israeli settler in the occupied West Bank town of Turmus Ayya, Palestinian officials said, as tensions continue to escalate amid a surge in settler violence and near-daily confrontations between Israeli settlers and Palestinians.

Omar Mohammad Rabea, 14, was shot along with two other teenagers by an Israeli settler at the entrance to Turmus Ayya, the town's mayor, Adeeb Lafi, told Reuters.

The army later pronounced Rabea dead and is still holding his body, Lafi added.

The Lebanese army said that it removed “explosive engineering obstacles” placed by Israeli forces in the southern towns of Alma al-Shab and Labbouneh.

“As part of its ongoing efforts to address repeated Israeli violations, a unit from the Lebanese Army worked in the areas of Alma al-Shab and Labbouneh, in the Tyre district, to dismantle obstacles placed by the Israeli military to block a road inside Lebanese territory,” a military statement said.

US warplanes launched nine fresh air strikes in Yemen’s coastal province of Hudaida the Houthi group said.

The Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV said that the strikes targeted Kamaran Island, without providing any details about injuries or damage.

Students expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people during an anti-Israel rally in the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka and called for protests and a general strike in universities on Monday in response to the over one and a half years of continuous killings by Israeli forces in Gaza, which has claimed over 50,000 lives.

The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) warned that humanitarian supplies in Gaza are rapidly depleting, with the situation worsening by the day.

The UNRWA, in a statement on X, emphasized the urgent need to end the Israeli blockade and allow the delivery of aid.

“It’s been over a month since the State of Israel banned the entry of aid and commercial supplies into Gaza.

At least 36 more Palestinians were killed and several others wounded in a series of Israeli air strikes across war-ravaged Gaza, medics said.

Ten people were killed, including eight children, and several people were injured when Israeli artillery shelled the Al-Nakheel Street east of Gaza City, a medical source said.

The Israeli army has destroyed 90 percent of residential neighbourhoods in the southern Gaza city of Rafah since October 2023, local authorities said.

Gaza’s government media office said that the Israeli army had razed a 12,000-square-metre area in Rafah, turning the city into what it called “one of the most horrific examples of genocide and ethnic cleansing in modern times.”

The office said 85 percent of the city’s sewage network has been destroyed, creating conditions ripe for disease outbreaks.

Palestinian factions called a general strike on Monday to pile pressure on Israel to halt its genocidal war on Gaza.

In a statement, the factions appealed to all Palestinians in the occupied territories and refugee camps abroad and supporters to join the planned strike “to highlight the massacres and heinous crimes committed by the (Israeli) occupation, including the killing of civilians, children and women, and the destruction aimed at displacing our people.”

They called for urgent action to halt the Israeli war on Gaza “in light of the failure of the international community to impose sanctions on the occupation or hold its terrorist government accountable."
