Israeli army says killed Hezbollah commander in south Lebanon strike

Lebanon said an Israeli strike left one person dead in the south as Israel said it killed a Hezbollah "platoon commander", its latest raid despite a ceasefire between Israel and the Iran-backed Lebanese group.

A "drone strike carried out by the Israeli enemy on a vehicle in the town of Aitaroun killed one person and wounded three others including a child", the Lebanese health ministry said in a statement.

The Israeli army said in a statement that it "struck and eliminated a platoon commander in Hezbollah's Special Operations Array" in the area.

Maldives bans Israeli passport holders in response to Gaza war

The Maldives will no longer allow entry to Israeli passport holders, President Mohamed Muizzu announced, citing the country's opposition to Israel's brutal military campaign in Gaza.

Hundreds of illegal Israeli settlers storm East Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque compound

Hundreds of illegal Israeli settlers forced their way into the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex in occupied East Jerusalem, marking the third day of the Jewish religious holiday of Passover, a Palestinian official said.

The official with the Islamic Endowments Department in Jerusalem said that at least 1,220 illegal Jewish settlers entered the flashpoint site under the protection of Israeli police since morning.

Witnesses said the settlers entered through the Al-Mugharbah Gate area, west of the holy mosque.

Around 1,149 illegal settlers broke into the complex on Monday, and 494 others on Sunday to mark the week-long holiday.

French President Emmanuel Macron stressed the urgent need to open all humanitarian aid crossings into Gaza, calling it a "vital necessity" for the civilian population, as the humanitarian crisis in the enclave continues to worsen.

"I have just spoken with (Israeli) Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu," Macron said on X. "I reiterated France's support for Israel's security and its people. The release of all hostages has always been an absolute priority," he said.

1 killed, 3 injured as Israeli drone hits van in southern Lebanon despite ceasefire

A Lebanese civilian was killed and three others were injured in an Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon as Tel Aviv continued its daily violations of a ceasefire agreement.

The drone strike targeted a small van with three missiles in the border town of Aytaroun, the state news agency NNA reported.

The Health Ministry said that the attack left one person dead and injured three others.

'Global sadism': British actor slams Western inaction on Israel's Gaza genocide

Israel's ongoing genocide in Gaza is "the most extreme humanitarian disaster of our time" and a re flection of "a kind of global sadism", according to famed British actor Juliet Stevenson, a vocal critic of Israeli actions and Western complicity.

Speaking to Anadolu, Stevenson said the scale of human suffering inflicted on Palestinians by Israel is "beyond anything" she has ever witnessed.

"It is catastrophic," Stevenson said, referring to the relentless Israeli attacks that have killed more than 51,000 Palestinians and wounded over 116,000 others since October 2023.

"The degree of human suffering is beyond anything I've ever witnessed … I've never seen anything like this."

Houthis report 26 more US air strikes across Yemen

US warplanes launched at least 26 more air strikes across Yemen, Houthis said.

Two air strikes targeted the central Marib province, and three others in Al-Jawaf province in northern Yemen, the Houthi-affiliated 26 September news website reported.

The attacks came hours after warplanes carried out six strikes in the coastal Al-Hudaida province on Monday night and 15 others in Marib.
