Gaza death toll rises to 25 in Israeli attacks

Gaza's civil defence agency has said that a spate of Israeli air strikes since dawn killed at least 25 people across the besieged enclave.

Israel resumed an intense air and ground offensive on Gaza on March 18, ending a two-month ceasefire that had largely halted the fighting in the besieged Palestinian territory.

"The total number of Palestinians killed in Israeli air strikes since dawn today has risen to 25," Mohammad Mughayyir, a senior official with the civil defence agency told AFP.

US blocks Palestine activist from witnessing his son’s birth in detention

Pro-Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil, a Columbia University graduate student, missed the birth of his son after US authorities denied his temporary release request.

Khalil, arrested on March 8 by immigration officials, faces deportation despite being a permanent US resident through his wife, Noor Abdalla, an American citizen.

Abdalla criticised US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for refusing the request, claiming the decision caused unnecessary suffering.

Khalil was transferred to Louisiana, likely due to the Trump administration’s strict immigration policies.

Gaza authority warns against Israeli-backed rumours of mass migration

The Gaza Government Media Office has cautioned against “misleading rumours” of alleged arrangements for mass Palestinian emigration from the territory, accusing Israel of spearheading a campaign to “undermine national consciousness and weaken Palestinian steadfastness.”

The office said it has been monitoring social media posts and misinformation about supposed mass migration plans driven by “controversial figures” collaborating with foreign entities.

The posts promote the idea of Palestinian families travelling via Israel’s Ramon Airport to various countries, the statement said.

“We categorically affirm that this information is entirely false, part of a malicious and systematic campaign to erode our people’s resilience, target their national awareness, and push them toward forced migration under the pressure of suffering and war,” it said.
