Hamas shows readiness for serious negotiations to end Israeli onslaught on Gaza

The Palestinian resistance group Hamas said it is ready for serious negotiations to end the ongoing Israeli assault on Gaza.

Hamas leader Mahmoud Mardawi said the Palestinians have engaged responsibly and seriously with all ceasefire proposals in Gaza.

"Israel backtracked on agreements, broke promises to mediators and resumed its campaign of killing and escalation," he added in a statement.

Israeli strikes kill six people: Lebanon

Lebanon said Israeli strikes killed six people in the country's south, with Israel saying it struck Hezbollah operatives.

The strikes were the latest in a series of Israeli attacks on south Lebanon, despite a November ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah after more than a year of hostilities.

Israel has continued to carry out raids in Lebanon since the November 27 ceasefire in violation of the truce agreement.

Fresh Israeli air strikes kill at least 20 more Palestinians in Gaza

At least 20 more Palestinians have been killed in fresh Israeli air strikes in Gaza amid a deadly onslaught on the enclave, medics said.

Israeli warplanes struck a home in Al-Saftawi neighbourhood, north of Gaza City, leaving seven people dead, a medical source said. One Palestinian was also killed in another air strike targeting a home near Al-Quds University in Gaza City, the source added.

Another medical source said that two more people, including a disabled person, were killed by Israeli army fire in southern Gaza City. Seven more people were killed and two others injured in another strike targeting a home in the northern town of Beit Lahia, the source added.

A Palestinian child was also killed and his family members were injured in Israeli shelling of their home in the southern city of Khan Younis.

Israeli fighter jets also shelled a tent sheltering displaced people, killing one person and injuring several others in al-Mawasi in Khan Younis, a medical source said.

Medics said that Hamas spokesman Abdel-Latif al-Qanoua was killed in an Israeli air strike in the northern town of Jabalia early Thursday.

Israel releases five Palestinian workers detained at Gaza border

Israel released five Palestinian workers who had been arrested at the Kerem Shalom crossing in southern Gaza amid its ongoing assault on the enclave.

The five workers were transported to the European Hospital in the southern city of Khan Younis for medical check-ups, witnesses said.

The circumstances of their arrest remain unclear.

Israeli forces kill Palestinian teen in Nablus amid escalating West Bank attacks

A young Palestinian man has been killed and another injured in Nablus city in the latest Israeli attacks in the northern occupied West Bank, the Health Ministry said.

A ministry statement said that Ismail Sharfa, 18, was killed by Israeli fire near Huwara town in southern Nablus.

According to eyewitnesses, the Israeli army seized his body.

EU reaffirms opposition to Israel's recognition of 13 illegal settlements in West Bank

Israel's recognition of 13 settlements in the occupied West Bank as "independent units" threatens the viability of the two-state solution, European Commission spokesperson Anouar El Anouni said.

During a daily press briefing in Brussels, El Anouni was asked about Israel's recent decision to recognise 13 settlements, which were seized by Israeli forces in the West Bank, as "independent units".

El Anouni highlighted that the EU is closely monitoring the growing displacement of Palestinians and the demolition of their homes in the region.

A security delegation from Egypt, one of the mediators in Gaza negotiations, has headed to Qatar for talks on releasing hostages, admitting aid into the enclave and moving towards a second phase of a ceasefire, state-affiliated Al Qahera News TV said.

UN agency says has 'two weeks' left of food supplies in Gaza

The UN's World Food Programme warned it had only two weeks' worth of food left in Gaza, where "hundreds of thousands of people" are at risk of severe hunger and malnutrition.

"WFP has approximately 5,700 tons of food stocks left in Gaza — enough to support WFP operations for a maximum of two weeks," the Rome-based agency said in a statement.

WFP said it and others in the food security sector had been "unable to bring new food supplies into Gaza for more than three weeks".
