Five Palestinian Civil Defense members missing after Israeli attack in Rafah

The Palestinian Civil Defense confirmed that five of its members remain missing after Israeli forces targeted its team in the Tel Sultan neighbourhood of western Rafah six days ago.

The team had been dispatched on Sunday to rescue paramedics from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society who also lost contact after being surrounded by Israeli forces.

One killed, 8 injured in Israeli air strikes on southern Lebanon

An Israeli air strike on the Lebanese town of Kfar Tibnit killed one person and injured eight others, including three children, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry.

The strike was part of a series of Israeli attacks targeting multiple areas in southern Lebanon under the pretext of striking "Hezbollah-linked targets."

Lebanon’s National News Agency, NNA, cited the Public Health Emergency Operations Center, which confirmed the casualties, noting that the toll could rise as more information becomes available.

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam called the first Israeli strike on south Beirut since a November ceasefire between it and Hezbollah a "dangerous escalation", a statement from his office said.

Salam condemned the Israeli raid on the Hezbollah bastion as "a dangerous escalation" and denounced "Israeli attacks that target civilians and safe residential areas where schools and universities are located", according to the statement.

French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday has called the Israeli air strike on Lebanon "unacceptable", saying it was a "violation of the ceasefire" agreed in November. Such attacks "play into the hands of Hezbollah,"

Macron said after a meeting with new Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, and following Lebanese official media reports of an air strike on south Beirut, the first such raid since a November ceasefire largely halted hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah.

WHO says 4,500 blood units monthly needed in Gaza amid critical shortfall

The World Health Organization (WHO) has sounded the alarm over a severe shortage of blood supplies and trauma care materials in Gaza, warning that the territory needs at least 4,500 blood units per month to meet urgent medical needs but currently has access to fewer than 500.

"Trauma is increasing, but the capacity to treat is decreasing," said Richard Peeperkorn, WHO representative in the occupied Palestinian territory, at a UN briefing in Geneva.

The UN humanitarian office has warned that the ongoing Israeli military campaign in Gaza may amount to atrocity crimes as the humanitarian situation reaches a new low following the collapse of a ceasefire deal.

"The acts of war that we see bear the hallmarks of atrocity crimes," Jens Laerke, spokesperson for the UN humanitarian office, told a UN briefing in Geneva.

"It has been 10 days of witnessing a callous disregard for human life and dignity.”

Israeli authorities have continued to impose restrictions on Palestinians' access to the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem for the fourth consecutive Friday of Ramadan, despite many having permits to enter.

Several Palestinians said the restrictions were enforced at the Qalandiya military checkpoint, which separates the cities of Jerusalem and Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.
