Palestinian foreign ministry slams Gaza 'intrusion' by Netanyahu

The Palestinian foreign ministry condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to Gaza the previous day, in which he vowed to keep up Israel's offensive on the enclave.

Germany warns Israel against permanent occupation of Gaza

Germany warned Israel against a permanent occupation of Gaza after Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said his troops will indefinitely remain in so-called security zones in the enclave.

"The German government clearly rejects a permanent occupation of Gaza and a permanent expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza. Gaza belongs to the Palestinians," Christian Wagner, a spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry said at a press briefing in Berlin.

"It remains a clear goal of German foreign policy to contribute to a negotiated two-state solution in the Middle East because that is the only way that Palestinians and Israelis can live side by side in their two states on a permanent basis," he added.

"There is currently an operation underway in close cooperation with the Israeli authorities to allow people to leave," foreign ministry spokesman Christian Wagner told journalists at a regular press conference.

He said "roughly two dozen" Germans were leaving the territory. He added that there remained "a small, single-digit number" of other Germans whom the authorities were aware of in Gaza and who wish to leave.

'No reason for gram of food or aid to enter Gaza': Ben-Gvir

Far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir called for preventing the entry of "a gram of food or aid" into blockaded Gaza as Tel Aviv continued its brutal onslaught on the enclave.

"It's a shame we don't learn from our mistakes. As long as our hostages are dying in the tunnels, there is no reason for a gram of food or aid to enter Gaza," Ben-Gvir wrote on X.

He claimed that allowing aid into Gaza would harm Israel's ability "to defeat Hamas and return our hostages safely".
