Palestinian death toll from fresh Israeli strikes on Gaza rises to 30

At least 30 more Palestinians have been killed in fresh Israeli strikes across Gaza amid ongoing Israeli genocide.

The Palestinian state news agency Wafa reported that nine people including two children were killed and 13 others wounded in an Israeli air strike on a building in central Khan Younis city, southern Gaza.

Another Israeli strike in Deir al-Balah city, central Gaza, left a doctor killed, Wafa also said.

In northern Gaza, an Israeli drone strike on a group of civilians in the Jabalia refugee camp left five people killed, according to the local Al-Aqsa radio.

It added that explosions were heard in different areas across Gaza as Israeli forces blew up more homes and buildings, and the artillery shelling on the eastern areas of the Palestinian enclave.

Another raid targeted a group of civilians in the Bir al-Naja area in western Jabalia, killing three.

In central Gaza, three Palestinians have been killed in an Israeli air strike that hit a civilian gathering near the Abdullah Azzam Mosque in Nuseirat refugee camp, according to local sources.

In Gaza City, five Palestinians have been killed and several others wounded when an air strike hit a home in the Al-Shati refugee camp.

Another four Palestinians were killed in an air strike that targeted a civilian gathering in eastern Khan Younis, medical sources told Anadolu.

Islamic Jihad seizes Israeli surveillance drone

The Al Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement, has announced that it had seized an Israeli surveillance drone hovering over the city of Khan Younis in southern Gaza.

In a post on Telegram, the group stated that it had "taken control of a Zionist reconnaissance drone of the type Matrice 350 RTK while it was carrying out multiple intelligence missions in the skies over Khan Younis."

No further details were provided by the group, while the Israeli military has not commented on the incident.

Türkiye's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has hailed Pakistan's stance on the Palestinian issue, saying that Pakistan is one of the countries that reacted "most strongly" to the genocide in Gaza.

"I would like to once again express that we have always appreciated Pakistan’s firm stance on the Palestinian issue. Pakistan is also one of the countries that reacted most strongly to the genocide in Gaza," Erdogan said in a joint news conference.

Pakistani premier condemns killings of over 50,000 innocent Palestinians

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has "strongly" condemned the brutal killing of over 50,000 innocent Palestinians during a joint news conference with Türkiye's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the capital Ankara.

"We have called for an immediate ceasefire and unhindered flow of humanitarian assistance for the Palestinian people. We renewed our call for a viable, independent, and contiguous Palestinian state with pre-1967 borders and Jerusalem as its capital," Sharif said.

Palestinian activist detained at Heathrow Airport for wearing pro-Palestine sweater

A Palestinian activist was detained at Heathrow Airport under the Firearms Act after wearing a jumper featuring a map of Palestine.

The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday as the activist arrived to report on the departure of Israeli politician Gideon Sa’ar, who is accused of war crimes in Gaza.

The arrest has sparked allegations of political repression and racial profiling in the UK.

UN chief appoints UK envoy to lead UNRWA strategic review

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has appointed Ian Martin of the UK to lead a strategic assessment of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees.

"The Secretary-General announced today the appointment of Ian Martin of the United Kingdom as head of the strategic assessment, as part of his UN80 initiative, of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA)," spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said during a news conference.

Dujarric noted that Martin is tasked "with conducting the strategic assessment in order to review UNRWA’s impact; implementation of its mandate under present political, financial, security and other constraints; and, consequences and risks, for Palestine refugees."

He will also identify options for action by UN member states and the organisation, added Dujarric.

Hamas slams Israel for pushing Gaza residents towards famine

The Palestinian group Hamas has denounced Israel’s closure of border crossings in Gaza for over 50 consecutive days, warning that famine and health crises could spread throughout the war-torn enclave.

“The Gaza Strip is facing an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe and a severe shortage of all basic necessities of life, including food, water, fuel, medicine, and essential vaccines for children, which is pushing the population towards famine and a health disaster that is worsening day after day,” the group said in a statement.

Hamas said the Israeli army continues its “brutal massacres that innocent civilians have been exposed to on a daily basis in residential neighbourhoods, shelter centres, and tents, and the systematic destruction of hospitals and civilian facilities.”

The statement underlined that Israel’s use of starvation as a weapon constitutes “a war crime and violation of all international and humanitarian resolutions.”

The group said the continuation of the Israeli blockade indicates “the failure of the international system politically, morally, and from a humanitarian perspective” and renewed its call on the international community to pile pressure on Netanyahu and his government to open the crossings for an immediate entry of the essential supplies.

Israeli army needs additional $2.6B to expand Gaza war: report

The Israeli army estimates that it will need an additional $2.6 billion to expand its war on Gaza, according to the Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth.

“The renewal of the war in Gaza over a month ago, after the ceasefire, and the plan to expand it with a large-scale ground operation, is incurring significant costs,” the daily said.

It added that the increase is strongly opposed by the Finance Ministry.

"It is inconceivable that, beyond the nearly $31 billion already allocated – including the use of a $2.6 billion reserve fund – another $2.6 billion could be added to an already inflated defence budget,” a senior official told the newspaper.

Two killed in fresh Israeli drone strikes in southern Lebanon

Two Lebanese people have been killed by Israeli drone strikes in southern Lebanon, in the latest violation of a ceasefire agreement, the Health Ministry has said.

One strike targeted a vehicle in the town of Hanieh in Tyre district, killing one person whose identity has not yet been confirmed.

In a separate incident, the Lebanese Civil Defence reported that a fire broke out in a car following another Israeli strike in Bawarta, located in Mount Lebanon.

A body was recovered from the wreckage.

The Lebanese group al-Jamaa al-Islamiya (Islamic Group) later identified the second victim as military commander Hussein Atoui, who was reportedly en route from his home in Bawarta to his workplace in Beirut.

Hamas team heads to Cairo for Gaza truce talks

A Hamas delegation left for Cairo to discuss "new ideas" aimed at securing a ceasefire in Gaza, an official from the group has said.

Talks have so far failed to produce any breakthrough since Israel resumed its air and ground assault from March 18, ending a two-month ceasefire.

The Hamas delegation, led by the group's chief negotiator Khalil Al-Hayya, "will meet with Egyptian officials to discuss new ideas aimed at reaching a ceasefire", said the official.
