UN expert warns of multilateral system's 'collapse' over Israel's possible annexation of West Bank

A UN expert on Palestine warned that Israel's declared intention to permanently annex the West Bank is an "egregious" breach of international law that risks triggering the "collapse of the multilateral system."

Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur wrote in a post on X, "The Israeli government's formally announced intention to permanently annex the entire occupied West Bank is such a serious and egregious violation of int'l law, that if not halted, the collapse of the multilateral system built on universal principles (such as sovereignty, self-determination, primacy of int'l law) will be unavoidable."

Over 60 Palestinians killed across Gaza as Israeli genocide continues unabated

The Israeli army killed at least 61 Palestinians in a series of air strikes across war-devastated Gaza, as Israel's genocide unrelentingly continues.

A medical source told Anadolu Agency that 13 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli air strike on a home in the southern city of Khan Younis. Another Palestinian was killed, and four others were injured in an Israeli strike on a tent for displaced people in the city’s western part, he added.

UN rights council demands Israel 'prevent genocide' in Gaza

The UN Human Rights Council has condemned Israel's renewed offensive in Gaza and demanded the country uphold its responsibility to "prevent genocide" in the Palestinian territory.

The United Nations' top rights body overwhelmingly adopted a resolution putting forth a list of demands to Israel, including calling on it to "lift its illegal blockade" on Gaza.

The text, adopted with 27 of the council's 47 members voting in favour, four against and 16 abstaining, deplored "the violation by Israel of the ceasefire agreement".

Death toll from Israeli strike on UN clinic in Gaza rises to 22

At least 22 Palestinian civilians were killed in an Israeli air strike on a health clinic run by the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) in northern Gaza, local authorities said.

Gaza’s government media office said women, children, and elderly people were among the victims, calling the attack "a full-fledged war crime."

Israeli army forces raided the Dheisha refugee camp in the occupied West Bank city of Bethlehem amid an ongoing escalation in the occupied territory, witnesses said.

Israeli forces searched several houses in the camp and dropped leaflets threatening residents with forced displacement, they added.

At least 19 killed in Israeli strike on UNRWA clinic in northern Gaza

At least 19 Palestinian civilians, including nine children, have been killed in an Israeli air strike on a health clinic run by the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) in northern Gaza, a medical source said.

Dozens of people were also injured in the attack on the UN-run clinic, where hundreds of displaced civilians have sheltered in Jabalia town, the source added. According to witnesses, the strike has caused a big fire at the building, burning the bodies of several victims.

Israeli army starts wide-scale ground incursion in Gaza’s Rafah

The Israeli army began a wide-scale ground incursion in Rafah in southern Gaza as Tel Aviv expanded its military campaign against the Palestinian enclave.

According to the state broadcaster KAN, the ground offensive involves the army’s 36th Division, in the largest attack since the military resumed its assault on Gaza on March 18.
