Another Palestinian journalist killed in Israeli attack in Gaza, death toll rises to 210

One more Palestinian journalist was killed in an Israeli air strike in Gaza, taking the death toll since October 2023 to 210, local authorities have said.

Gaza’s government media office identified the slain journalist as Helmi Al-Faqawi, a reporter for Palestine Today news agency, in the strike that targeted a tent for journalists near Nasser Hospital in the southern city of Khan Younis.

One civilian was killed, and nine journalists were also injured in the same attack.

Israel controls 50% of Gaza as Palestinians get squeezed into shrinking wedges of land

Israel has dramatically expanded its invasion in Gaza since relaunching its war last month.

It now controls more than 50% of the territory and is squeezing Palestinians into shrinking wedges of land.

The largest contiguous area the army controls is around the Gaza border, where the military has razed Palestinian homes, farmland and infrastructure to the point of uninhabitability, according to rights groups.

Netanyahu took longer path on his way to Washington to avoid ICC arrest warrant: Media

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was forced to take a longer path on his way to visit Washington from the Hungarian capital Budapest to avoid any case of emergency landing in countries that would enforce the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant against him.

According to the Israeli daily Haaretz, Netanyahu's plane flew "through a flight path about 400 kilometres (248 miles) longer to avoid flying over countries that might enforce the ICC arrest warrant issued against him in the case of an emergency landing."

"Israel believed that countries like Ireland, Iceland, and the Netherlands could have acted to enforce the warrant," Haaretz also said.

General strike hits occupied West Bank in solidarity with Gaza

A general strike gripped cities, towns, and refugee camps across the occupied West Bank in solidarity with Gaza and to pressure for an end to the genocide committed by Israel against Palestinians.

An Anadolu correspondent reported that the strike brought economic life, transportation, and government and private institutions to a close, as preparations were made for mass protest marches.

Government and private schools, as well as banking institutions, all shut their doors, according to Anadolu correspondent.

Macron calls for Gaza ceasefire during Egypt visit

French President Emmanuel Macron has called for a ceasefire in Gaza and urged the lifting of Israel’s blockade on humanitarian aid.

Macron was in Cairo on Monday to meet with President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi and later with Jordan’s King Abdullah II, close Western allies, who are also calling for a ceasefire.

Israel ended its truce with Hamas last month and cut off all imports of food, fuel and humanitarian aid to the territory’s two million Palestinians.

10 Palestinians killed in Israeli strikes on Gaza, including journalist

The Israeli army has killed at least 10 Palestinians in a series of strikes across Gaza since early Monday, including a journalist.

A medical source said that the Israeli army struck a tent for journalists near the Nasser hospital in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, killing a journalist and another civilian and injuring nine other journalists, including some in critical condition.

The journalist victim was identified as Helmi Al-Faqawi, according to local sources.

Israeli air strikes on two homes in western Deir Al-Balah city, central Gaza, left two people killed and others injured.

Three more Palestinians were killed in an Israeli drone strike targeting a group of people in the Zeitoun neighborhood, eastern Gaza City, the official Palestinian news agency Wafa reported.

It added that another drone strike in the Al-Juron area in northern Gaza City left one Palestinian killed.

Two others were killed in an Israeli strike on Jabalia town in northern Gaza along with others injured, Wafa also said.

The Israeli army continued to force Palestinians in central Gaza to flee, with a new "evacuation order" issued for Deir al Balah city.

Israeli Army Spokesperson Avichay Adraee shared a map on his X account on the forced displacement of Palestinians from five neighbourhoods in Deir al Balah.

Dozens of demonstrators gathered outside Blair House, or the President's Guest House, ahead of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to Washington.

The protesters carried placards and Palestinian flags, demanding an end to the genocide in besieged Gaza and the return of the captives.

Israel PM Netanyahu orders 'strong response' to Hamas retaliatory attack

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered a "strong response" after around 10 retaliatory rockets were fired from besieged Gaza, according to his office.

"The prime minister instructed to deliver a strong response and approved the continuation of the intensified IDF operations in Gaza against Hamas," his office said in a statement, adding that Netanyahu spoke to Defence Minister Israel Katz from his aeroplane as he travelled to Washington.
