Turkish club Trabzonspor’s new goalkeeper Andre Onana, who on Thursday moved on a season-long loan from Manchester United to the Turkish club, has told fans he is excited to start an adventure.

The Cameroonian goalkeeper was greeted at the airport by a large crowd of the Turkish club’s fans on Thursday night.

"I’m so happy. I’m starting a new adventure. I’m really excited. Feeling the love from those around me means a lot to me. I want to get to work as soon as possible and make them happy on the pitch," Onana said.

Trabzonspor have also described the signing of Andre Onana as “huge”.

Warm welcome

“Welcome to your new home, Onana,’’ The club posted on social media with photos from Onana’s unveiling event.

The footballer completed a season-long loan move to Turkish side Trabzonspor as his future at Old Trafford came into doubt after United signed Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens for 21 million euros (£18.2 million) plus add-ons.

The 29-year-old joined United from Inter Milan in 2023 for an initial 51 million euros plus a potential four million euros in add-ons and ended his first season with an FA Cup winner's medal.

"Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has joined Trabzonspor on loan for the duration of the 2025/26 season, subject to international clearance and registration," United confirmed in a statement.
